We are located just 1 hour from Managua on the Pacific Coast.
What you can see and do.
Activities offered include world-class surfing, with a spot in front of the lodge suitable to beginners, horseback riding on the beach, in the forest, nature walks to see our pristine coastal dry tropical forest ecosystem, with mangroves, cacti, spectacled caimans, migratory and tropical birds, sea turtles.

Why we are special
We are commited to preserving our environment and help our community grow. We host sea-turtle preservation projects and education projects. Guests can join us in a local school on Saturday mornings.
We offer a work exchange program to experienced teachers. If you are not afraid of riding a bicycle, we'll put you up in exchange for your teaching in a local school. Bring your own curriculum.
SUSTAINABILITY
Unspoilt nature is all around us for all to enjoy. Our gardens reflect a beautiful selection of native plants. Not a single tree was cut to build Los Cardones. To date, we as a family have planted over 7000 trees.
Sustainable building construction materials are favoured, such a palm fronds, earth brics, eucalyptus lumber, drift wood, canes and bamboo. Environmental architecture principles are used to maximize air flow, allow passive cooling and blend the bungalows harmoniously into our environment.
Recycling and energy conservation are part of the Los Cardones life style.
Our compost toilets are a great example of the simplicity and efficiency of that system. All organic waste is composted on site. Aluminum cans and glass bottles are recycled. We minimize trash by buying directly from the producer or by purchasing bulk supplies.
Water is hand-pumped from our well, so we encourage you to use it sparsely.
Some of the greywater is recycled in the gardens.
Electricity use is minimized to four light bulbs and one computer and is 100% solar powered.
